Taking care of your hearing is vital!
Our professional and trained team are here to help you safely and effectively remove ear wax buildup, providing relief from discomfort and improving your hearing.
In the United Kingdom, it is estimated that around 3.9% of the population requires management of ear wax each year with many people having to wait 12 to 16 weeks to get treatment.
These statistics are astonishing and due to the lack of treatment available with the NHS, many people simply go on living their lives with this condition, unaware that they can get treated at their local pharmacy.
Here at Knights Pharmacy, we want to help our customers with conditions such as this, so we have partnered up with TympaHealth to provide easy and accessible Ear Wax Removal.
What is ear wax buildup?
Ear wax, or cerumen, is a natural substance produced by the body to protect the ear canal from dirt, bacteria, and other debris. However, in some cases, the wax can build up and cause blockages, leading to symptoms such as ear pain, ringing in the ears, and even hearing loss.
Diagnosis & Treatment with TympaHealth
Thanks to modern technology, TympaHealth treatments and procedures can help to quickly diagnose ear & hearing conditions. Infections as well as excessive & compacted wax can be identified & treated quickly & painlessly.
Each appointment will take roughly 30 minutes. One of our highly trained clinicians will carry out the test. Once they have removed some wax the hearing screening will be performed. During the examination, high-definition images and videos will be taken. This will identify any hearing issues and whether or not you may require further treatment from specialist doctors.
In most cases, however, the initial problem is simply the presence of excessive wax. If this is the case, a fast & painless microsuction procedure can be performed to clear the ear of any debris or built-up wax. This procedure could immediately improve hearing capabilities.
What is Microsuction?
Ear Microsuction is the safest and most effective way to remove earwax. It works by inserting a low-pressure suction probe into the ear. The probe will be controlled by one of our trained clinicians who will be wearing a microscope that will allow them to look clearly into the ear canal to remove the wax.
While this procedure is painless and does not involve water being squirted into your ear canal, as syringing does. It is a simple and clean procedure.
Additionally, there will be a free follow-up/aftercare appointment if necessary, this will determine if you’ll need to come back on a 3 or 6 monthly interval.
Note that it is recommended to use olive oil a week before your appointment. Enquire in-store for further details.
